As big dumb action movies go, The Expendables franchise has been among the biggest and the dumbest. Unfortunately, The Expendables 3 was not quite big and dumb enough, trying to expand the appeal of the franchise by toning down some of the madness and mayhem enough for a PG-13 rating. Sylvester Stallone now admits that this was a miscalculation, but has promised to up the ante with The Expendables 4.
Speaking with Crave Online (via /Film), Stallone confessed that attempting to broaden the appeal of the franchise was “a horrible miscalculation.” Here’s what he said:

Absolutely unequivocally yes. I believe it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone’s part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I’m quite certain it won’t happen again.

Stallone went on to discuss the possible future of The Expendables franchise, including where the team might wind up next. While they probably won’t be going back in time to World War II (apparently that’s a thing), Stallone does say that he’s toyed with similar ideas:

I have actually entertained the idea of putting the group into such an unnatural environment that it, in an of itself, creates extra suspense and tension: the “fish out of water” scenario. That environment might not be time travel, but nearly just as jarring.

I’m not terribly clear what an Expendables “fish out of water” tale would look like, but it’s an intriguing idea nonetheless.
We must remember that The Expendables 4 is not necessarily a sure thing. The third film did not do as well critically or financially as its predecessors, though that could be chalked up to the dilution of violence in an attempt to get that PG-13. When it comes down to it, we all expect an Expendables film to be big and violent, with a plot you can just about follow and badass action stars spouting one-liners. If it does not fulfill that criteria, there’s really no reason for it to exist.
We shall have to wait and see what the future holds for our geriatric action stars. I personally would be all for The Expendables 4, just because it’s always fun to see these guys duking it out with each other. I do wonder though who else they could possibly bring into the fold. Are there any major action heroes who have not appeared in an Expendables film at this point?

Kim Kardashian won't be making it to India.
The E! star, who is currently in Australia for a jam-packed week of interviews and appearances to promote her new fragrance Fleur Fatale, posted an Instagram note to let fans in India know that an unknown issue stopped her from making the trip.
"To all my wonderful fans in India, I'm so disappointed I wasn't able to come to India as planned. When the opportunity presented itself to make the trip, there was a short window to coordinate all of the elements necessary to make it happen. Unfortunately, time ran out so the trip has been canceled. I look forward to rescheduling and meeting everyone soon," she wrote.

While Kim didn't reveal any details, local reports state that it had to do with "visa issues."
"Kim had to go to Dubai from India, but as per visa rules she had to appear at the consulate office in Mumbai as she was coming from a foreign country and heading to another foreign country," a source tells the Hindustan Times.
"Unfortunately, her schedule is too tight and she would have been left with no time if she had squeezed in a visit to the consulate. She had to therefore cancel her India trip as she had a lot of commitments in Dubai."
Kim was supposed to appear on India's popular reality show Bigg Boss.

Old reputations die hard, and Katherine Heigl is more ready than ever these days to put her bad rap to bed.
During an interview for The Meredith Vieira Show, airing Monday, Heigl was asked about the recent Facebook Q&A she did, during which a fan asked her thoughts regarding rumors that she is "very rude." Part of Heigl's response was, "I don't think I am."
Well, she has since shored up her response to that persistent question that's been hounding her since her days on Grey's Anatomy.
"What I loved about the Facebook Q&A is that I could take my time and I realized that I like to talk a lot and I will type out the longest lengthiest answers, so I only answered 10 questions in two hours," Heigl recalled, "but I think I said, ‘Of course, I've heard that too and I'm not.' And you know what, I've been saying 'I don't think I am,' but i'm going to be really honest right now.
"I'm not."

"I know I'm not," she continued. "I don't have to think about it. I'm not a rude person. I'm not an unkind or mean person. I would never go out of my way or consciously try to hurt anyone's feelings or make them feel bad or uncomfortable or not be...professional...
"I like my job. I will continue to stand up for myself and I'm never going to stop standing up for my right to be heard, my right to be treated respectfully and professionally in return, my right to draw boundaries. I am a strong woman and I'm not going to apologize for that and I'm not going to on behalf of my daughters—and I'm not going to on behalf of all of you sitting in the audience.
"We should all have the basic human right to say, ‘Hey, no, I'm sorry, I'm not comfortable with that. I don't like that. This is not OK for me,' without it making me...I can't say the word. A B-word."

Could there be anything more to say on the subject? We're pretty sure that this qualifies as Heigl stating her case, once and for all.

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old mother of two and Vieira did delve into lighter topics as well, including an interesting story about the role John Mayer played in her eventual marriage to singer-songwriter Josh Kelley.
It turns out she met both musicians at around the same time, and while she and Kelley pursued a romance, she and Mayer became good friends.
"So, we were just hanging out a little bit but I completely used John to get Josh to commit," Heigl admitted. "Because these musicians, they are competitive and jealous of each other. Whatever, over the phone, because he was on tour, I was like, ‘Josh, I've got to be honest. I just want to know where we stand because if not, I might try to pursue something with John.'"
Well, who knows what Mayer's thinking, but we're adoring Heigl's candor right about now.

If all goes according to Angelina Jolie's plan, you will no longer see the 38-year-old actress on the big screen.

In a candid new interview with DuJour magazine, Angelina confirms she's planning to give up acting entirely.
"Absolutely," she tells the magazine about her future plans of no longer appearing in films. "I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera."

And she's already taking the next steps to retiring from acting by getting plenty of buzz as a director, especially for her latest project Unbroken, which is based on the incredible life story of Olympic runner-turned-U.S. airman Louie Zamperini.

"I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier," she says about her new role behind the camera.

This isn't the first time Angelina has talked about quitting acting. In 2012, she told Britain's Channel 4 News that she would happily give up her career to be at home with her children.

"I am so grateful to the job, and I have had great experiences, and I have even be able to tell stories and be a part of stories that mattered and I have done things for fun, but ... if it went away tomorrow I would be very happy to be home with the children," she said. "I wake up in the morning as a mom and I turn on the news like everybody else, and I see what's happening and I want to be part of the world in a positive way."

Thankfully for her fans, that day isn't coming anytime soon.
Angelina is starring in the highly anticipated By the Sea with her husband Brad Pitt, a period love story which she wrote and is also directing. Her 13-year-old son Maddox is also working as a production assistant on the film.
Though predictably, it's not always easy working with your significant other.
"The tricky thing is directing myself and directing Brad," she admits. "It's hard, dramatic material, and we're balancing."

"It's a heavy film, and it's not easy for us," she adds. "But even as you struggle through it, you're in the trenches together and you don't expect it to be easy. We're challenging each other and that's a really good thing."

The last time Angelina and Brad starred in a film together was 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Now, nine years later, the two are married with six children.

"I think when it's right, it feels the exact same [as before]," she says about married life.

So it was somewhat unusual to see Sharon Stone looking distinctly tired and washed out as she went out for lunch in Los Angeles today.
The 54-year-old actress wore no make-up and her blonde hair loose around her shoulders as she dined outside with two female friends.
